HDMI and SDI Encoder Modulators
An encoder-modulator does both halves of the chain in one chassis: it encodes HDMI, SDI, CVBS or YPbPr into a transport stream and immediately places it on an RF carrier. For a hotel, hospital or campus that feeds coax from local players rather than from a broadcast mux, this is the shortest path from source to screen.
Hanxing builds 26 encoder modulator models. An encoder modulator encodes baseband video and then modulates it in the same unit, so one device turns an HDMI or SDI source into a DVB-T or QAM channel on the coax. It removes the separate encoder, mux and modulator of a full headend, which is why small cable systems and hospitality sites use it.

What is an encoder modulator, and when is it the right box?
An encoder modulator encodes baseband video and then modulates it in the same unit, so one device turns an HDMI or SDI source into a DVB-T or QAM channel on the coax. It removes the separate encoder, mux and modulator of a full headend, which is why small cable systems and hospitality sites use it.
How do I choose between an encoder-modulator and a full headend chain?
Choose an encoder-modulator for a handful of local channels on an existing coax: one box per source, RF out straight into the building distribution. Choose a modular headend when the channel count grows, when feeds arrive from satellite or IP, or when channels must be multiplexed and re-mapped before they reach the network.
Where are these encoder modulators deployed?
These deployment fields come from the range’s own model datasheets, counted across the line. They are the sites this equipment is specified for: hotel and hospital in-room TV, campus distribution, small cable systems and venue installs that already have coax to the TVs.

Where this range sits in a system
Each link opens the turnkey chain on our system solutions page that this range feeds into — model, role and the parameters published for it.
How does the encoder modulator line differ from the neighbouring lines?
Each row below is the application copy already published for that product line on this site. Read the row that matches the signal you have in hand, then open the line it points to.
| Product line | What it is specified for |
|---|---|
| Encoder Modulator (this page) | Headends that feed a coax RF network directly from HDMI or SDI sources — hotels, hospitals, campuses and small cable systems. |
| Encoder | Streaming and broadcast headends that need to turn HDMI or SDI sources into IP streams — IPTV platforms, hotel in-room TV, live event contribution, cable and DTT distribution. |
| Modulator / Modem | Channel generation for DVB-T/C, ISDB-T, ATSC or QAM networks — local TV distribution, hospitality TV, and re-multiplexed regional line-ups. |
| IP Gateway | Interfacing between IP and ASI/RF legs of a headend — multicast to ASI conversion, IP backbones, and satellite or terrestrial feeds. |

Encoder Modulator — buyer questions
What is an encoder modulator used for in a hotel or hospital coax network?
Headends that feed a coax RF network directly from HDMI or SDI sources — hotels, hospitals, campuses and small cable systems.
Which encoding formats and RF standards does this range cover?
The catalogue lists 26 Encoder Modulator models, and 26 of them carry a Word datasheet on this site. Encoding and RF output standards published across this range: J.83A (DVB-C), J.83B (4); QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM (3); MPEG-2 (2); MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (2); MPEG2 & MPEG4 AVC/H.264 (2); 16/32/64/128/ 256QAM (1); 64/ 256 QAM (1); 64/ 256QAM (1) — the figures in brackets are the number of model pages in this range that publish that value. If a parameter you need is not published on the model page, ask us and we send it with the datasheet instead of estimating it.
How many HDMI or SDI inputs do these units take, and what power do they need?
It is specified per model rather than per line. The datasheets published on this range's model pages state a power or consumption row for 6 of the 26 models (for example FUQ4454B — Power: AC 100V±10%, 50/60Hz; AC 220V±10%, 50/60Hz); a chassis dimension row for 7 of them (for example FUQ4633C — Dimensions: 183*110*50 mm); a weight row for 6 (for example FUQ4653D: 2.5 kg). Tell us the model you have shortlisted and we send the datasheet with the drawing, so power, rack space and connectors are confirmed before you order.
What is the lead time, and how do I get a price?
Quotations are factory-direct. Send the model number, or the channel count with the input and output formats you need, and we answer with the datasheet, the configuration and a written quotation. Lead time depends on the model and the position in our production schedule and is confirmed in the quotation, together with the air or sea freight options.
