IPTV and Broadcast Video Encoders
The encoder line turns baseband video and audio — HDMI, SDI, CVBS, analogue or AES audio — into MPEG transport streams that an IP network can carry. It is the first stage of a headend: IPTV platforms, hotel in-room TV, cable systems and terrestrial distribution all start here.
Hanxing builds 28 encoder models. A video encoder converts baseband sources into an MPEG transport stream that an IP network can carry. In an IPTV headend it is the first stage after the sources: the encoder sets the format and bit-rate, and everything downstream — multiplexer, IP gateway, set-top box — delivers that stream to the screens.

What does a video encoder do in a cable TV or IPTV headend?
A video encoder converts baseband sources into an MPEG transport stream that an IP network can carry. In an IPTV headend it is the first stage after the sources: the encoder sets the format and bit-rate, and everything downstream — multiplexer, IP gateway, set-top box — delivers that stream to the screens.
How do I choose between an encoder and an encoder-modulator?
Choose an encoder when the next stage is a network: its output is a transport stream over UDP, RTP, SRT or HLS, and a modulator or gateway places it on coax further down. Choose an encoder-modulator when baseband video has to appear on an RF channel directly, with no separate modulator in the rack.
Where are these encoders deployed?
The deployments below are the ones this range’s own model pages publish, counted across the line. Each entry is the field it appears in on a model datasheet, so the list shows what this specific range is bought for rather than what the line could theoretically do.

Where this range sits in a system
Each link opens the turnkey chain on our system solutions page that this range feeds into — model, role and the parameters published for it.
How does the encoder line differ from the neighbouring lines?
Each row below is the application copy already published for that product line on this site. Read the row that matches the signal you have in hand, then open the line it points to.
| Product line | What it is specified for |
|---|---|
| Encoder (this page) | Streaming and broadcast headends that need to turn HDMI or SDI sources into IP streams — IPTV platforms, hotel in-room TV, live event contribution, cable and DTT distribution. |
| Encoder Modulator | Headends that feed a coax RF network directly from HDMI or SDI sources — hotels, hospitals, campuses and small cable systems. |
| Modulator / Modem | Channel generation for DVB-T/C, ISDB-T, ATSC or QAM networks — local TV distribution, hospitality TV, and re-multiplexed regional line-ups. |
| IP Gateway | Interfacing between IP and ASI/RF legs of a headend — multicast to ASI conversion, IP backbones, and satellite or terrestrial feeds. |

Encoder — buyer questions
What is a video encoder used for in an IPTV or cable TV system?
Streaming and broadcast headends that need to turn HDMI or SDI sources into IP streams — IPTV platforms, hotel in-room TV, live event contribution, cable and DTT distribution.
How many encoder models are in this range, and which formats do they publish?
The catalogue lists 28 Encoder models, and 28 of them carry a Word datasheet on this site. Video encoding published across this range: MPEG-2 (2); MPEG-2, MPEG4 AVC/H.264 (2); MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (2); MPEG2 & MPEG4 AVC/H.264 (2); Analog composite video (CVBS), BNC interface (1); HEVC/ H.265, MPEG 4 AVC/H.264 (1); HEVC/H.265 HD; MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 HD (1); MPEG-1 Layer 2, LC-AAC (1) — the figures in brackets are the number of model pages in this range that publish that value. If a parameter you need is not published on the model page, ask us and we send it with the datasheet instead of estimating it.
What power supply, rack size and interfaces do these encoders use?
It is specified per model rather than per line. The datasheets published on this range's model pages state a power or consumption row for 16 of the 28 models (for example FUQ3214B — Power requirements: AC 110V± 10%, 50/60Hz, AC 220 ± 10%, 50/60Hz); a chassis dimension row for 17 of them (for example FUQ3214C — Dimension(W×L× H): 482mm×328mm ×44mm); a weight row for 8 (for example FUQ4313B: About 3.2kg). Tell us the model you have shortlisted and we send the datasheet with the drawing, so power, rack space and connectors are confirmed before you order.
What is the lead time, and how do I get a price?
Quotations are factory-direct. Send the model number, or the channel count with the input and output formats you need, and we answer with the datasheet, the configuration and a written quotation. Lead time depends on the model and the position in our production schedule and is confirmed in the quotation, together with the air or sea freight options.
