IRDs, Decoders and Transcoders
An IRD receives a satellite or terrestrial feed, descrambles it where a CAM is fitted, and hands it on as baseband video or as a new stream. This range covers receivers with tuner banks, CI slots, IP and ASI inputs, and transcoders that change the codec of the stream as it passes through.
Headend core guide: how the receiver, multiplexer and CAS/SMS stages fit together
Hanxing builds 21 ird / decoder / transcoder models. An integrated receiver decoder takes a modulated feed in, selects the service, descrambles it through a common interface where needed, and outputs either baseband video for monitoring and re-encoding or a re-mapped transport stream. In a turn-around chain it is the receive end; for monitoring it is where an operator watches a feed.

What does an IRD or decoder do in a satellite turn-around and monitoring chain?
An integrated receiver decoder takes a modulated feed in, selects the service, descrambles it through a common interface where needed, and outputs either baseband video for monitoring and re-encoding or a re-mapped transport stream. In a turn-around chain it is the receive end; for monitoring it is where an operator watches a feed.
How do I choose between an IRD, a decoder and a transcoder?
An IRD receives and descrambles a tuner feed but leaves it as a transport stream; a decoder turns it into baseband video for a screen, a monitor wall or a re-encode. A transcoder changes the video codec or bit-rate in place, which is what a headend needs when the incoming codec does not match what its subscribers can play.
Where are these receivers and transcoders deployed?
The deployment fields below come from this range’s model pages, counted across the line. They describe satellite turn-around links, headends that descramble conditional-access feeds before re-distribution, contribution and monitoring positions, and sites converting between codecs as streams pass through.

Where this range sits in a system
Each link opens the turnkey chain on our system solutions page that this range feeds into — model, role and the parameters published for it.
How does the ird / decoder / transcoder line differ from the neighbouring lines?
Each row below is the application copy already published for that product line on this site. Read the row that matches the signal you have in hand, then open the line it points to.
| Product line | What it is specified for |
|---|---|
| IRD / Decoder / Transcoder (this page) | Receiving, descrambling, decoding and transcoding satellite or IP feeds — turn-around, monitoring and contribution links. |
| IP Gateway | Interfacing between IP and ASI/RF legs of a headend — multicast to ASI conversion, IP backbones, and satellite or terrestrial feeds. |
| Encoder | Streaming and broadcast headends that need to turn HDMI or SDI sources into IP streams — IPTV platforms, hotel in-room TV, live event contribution, cable and DTT distribution. |
| Multiplexer / Scrambler | Building the MPTS/SPTS line-up and CAS/EPG handling — transport-stream muxing, scrambling and EIT processing. |
Models in the IRD / Decoder / Transcoder range
All 21 models of this line, with the specifications each model page publishes from its own datasheet. Every model name links to its page, where the full table, the datasheet (Word) and the range comparison sit.
What does this range publish across all its models?
Video formats, tuner standards and interfaces published across this range
The values below are the rows published on this range's own model pages, deduplicated. The count next to each value is the number of models in the line that publish it, so you can see where the range is concentrated before you open a single model page.

IRD / Decoder / Transcoder — buyer questions
What is an IRD or decoder used for in satellite turn-around and monitoring?
Receiving, descrambling, decoding and transcoding satellite or IP feeds — turn-around, monitoring and contribution links.
Which video formats, tuner standards and interfaces does this range cover?
The catalogue lists 21 IRD / Decoder / Transcoder models, and 21 of them carry a Word datasheet on this site. Video formats, tuner standards and interfaces published across this range: 950-2150MHz (5); 8* CVBS, RCA (2); MPEG-2/H.264/AVS+ (2); 4* HDMI (1); MPEG-2, MPEG4 AVC/H.264 (1) — the figures in brackets are the number of model pages in this range that publish that value. If a parameter you need is not published on the model page, ask us and we send it with the datasheet instead of estimating it.
What power supply, weight and chassis size do these receivers have?
It is specified per model rather than per line. The datasheets published on this range's model pages state a power or consumption row for 11 of the 21 models (for example FUQ3702 — General: Power Supply: 220VAC±10%, 50Hz); a chassis dimension row for 10 of them (for example FUQ3902B — Dimension(W×L× H): 482mm×328mm ×44mm); a weight row for 7 (for example FUQ3904C: 3.5kg). Tell us the model you have shortlisted and we send the datasheet with the drawing, so power, rack space and connectors are confirmed before you order.
What is the lead time, and how do I get a price?
Quotations are factory-direct. Send the model number, or the channel count with the input and output formats you need, and we answer with the datasheet, the configuration and a written quotation. Lead time depends on the model and the position in our production schedule and is confirmed in the quotation, together with the air or sea freight options.
